THE PEAK IN CONSISTENCY CONTROL: BTG'S NEW CONCEPT OF OPTICAL TRANSMITTERS

Today’s pulp and papermakers want transmitters that deliver fast, reliable results, are user-friendly, and equipped with the latest communication tools. Just as critical, they want products that are affordable and have a quick ROI.

At BTG, we got the message and therefore present a new concept of optical transmitters that fulfils just that:

  • PeakOne – a transmitter for total consistencies from 0.01 to 3.5%,
  • PeakTwo – a transmitter for total consistencies and ash up to 3.5%
  • PeakTotal – a transmitter for total consistencies from 0.5 to 10%, also available in a ‘light’ version

Part of BTG’s commitment to developing easier, smaller, smarter, lighter instruments, our new optical transmitter concept simplifies our portfolio to give customers a clear and easy choice that exactly matches their needs. Transmitter design has been radically streamlined to create a range of easy-to-handle, slim and slender inline instruments. But one thing is that we haven’t cut back on its functionality. All transmitters deliver the same top performance across all the usual applications – and a few new ones – providing the peak in consistency measurement and control based on BTG’s renowned and patented Peak Method.

Like other BTG sensors, each optical consistency transmitter is built around a state-of-the-art communication platform, the CPM. Flexible and modular to meet all future needs, the CPM supports seamless communication with HART or Profibus PA, as well as featuring drivers for DD-, AMS- and DTM-based systems. This monolithic communication interface makes handling the transmitter very user-friendly due to its identical layout and menu navigation.

The TCT-2501 PeakOne is our new-generation high performance low consistency transmitter for total consistency. The number one choice for retention control when ash is no issue, it fulfils all the needs of board and tissue manufacturers seeking to optimize retention aid dosage and fines control. Widely used in cyclone cleaners, disc filter, and flotation applications it helps papermakers increase efficiency in water clarification and fiber/fines recovery, and is ideal for use anywhere in the process where total consistency is below 3.5%.

BTG’s RET-2502 PeakTwo is based on our PeakOne technology and offers a number of advanced capabilities. The transmitter is perfectly designed for accurate ash control applications. Combining this inline sensor with it’s extended communication features and BTG`s application know how is the ideal solution for all retention control applications and DIP flotation optimization.

The TCR-2500 PeakTotal, a transmitter for total consistencies from 0.5 - 10%, is especially suitable for all screening applications as well as for a wide range of applications from the pulper to the machine chest. The TCR-2500 also now comes in a ‘light’ version that offers customers a very small, easy-to-handle transmitter that combines advanced capabilities with a very affordable price.

BTG AT ZELLCHEMING: MORE NEW GENERATION PRODUCTS TO COME

In-depth process- and customer knowledge is the common denominator for the two divisions of BTG Group, Duroblade and Instruments. We are devoted to developing innovative, cost-effective ways of improving the productivity of the pulp and paper industry, the process and the profitability.

At this year's ZELLCHEMING exhibition, BTG Instruments will present the easier, smaller, smarter, lighter sensors for freeness and consistency measurement, DRT-5500 Freeness Inline, MEK-3000 TwinTorque, and the light version of the new TCR-2500 PeakTotal, a very small, easy-to-handle total consistency transmitter that combines advanced capabilities with a very affordable price. The TCR is part of BTG's new concept of optical transmitters characterized by lean design and top functionality for lowest Total Cost of Operation. Based on one state-of-the-art communication platform the simplified optical transmitter portfolio gives access to an extended range of applications. BTG Instruments is also showing the new DFR-05 for freeness and headbox dewatering shich is perfectly suited for easy and reliable measurements in the mill. This improved, light version measures freeness values as SR and CSF. It simulates paper machine runnability, offers full data storage and handling, and is fully upgradeable to the DFR-05 standard version.

BTG Duroblade, the inventor of the original high-performance metering and doctoring blade, will present their complete range of blades, rods and accessories for metering and size press applications, and in the doctoring segment, a range of creping doctor blades, the unique blade holder CBC and a variety of tissue-related services, such as creping process surveys, blade holder performance surveys, vibration monitoring and consultation, edge build-up evaluation and cleaning solutions, as well as services like blade wear analyses, on-site training, trial support and performance analyses.

Completely new this year is BTG's Total tissue Capability program, a holistic approach to streamlining production and resolving chronic process issues quickly and cost-effectively. By combining complementary products from our Duroblade and Instruments portfolios we can help tissue makers set new benchmarks for performance and cost control while further raising productivity.

Come and visit us at ZELLCHEMING, Wiesbaden, Germany, June 23-25, 2009 at booth # 908 to learn more about how BTG can optimize your process.
